Our process begins long before the pickles reach your table. Each season starts in late winter with garden planning and seed selection. Once the seeds are planted, we wait for the cucumbers to grow, the dill to bloom, and the garlic to mature. When everything is ready in mid October, we harvest and begin the careful work of turning fresh produce into crisp, flavourful dill pickles. From there, we head out to farmers markets to share our jars with you.
Grandma Myrtle is at the heart of Homestead Heritage. Her kitchen was where the harvest came to life and where every jar of pickles carried the taste of care and tradition. She began making her recipes in the 1940s with produce grown on the family farm, and her talent for turning simple ingredients into something special became a treasured part of our family story. Today we continue her craft with the same pride she inspired and the same love she put into every batch.
Every jar of Homestead Heritage pickles carries the care and pride of our family. We use ingredients grown in our own garden and prepare each batch with the same recipe Myrtle created in the 1940s. From the crunch to the flavour, our pickles are made to taste just like home.
Watch for updates on where we will be so you can pick up a jar or two while they last.
You can find Homestead Heritage pickles at local farmers markets throughout the Edmonton area during the fall season. We bring each new batch straight from our kitchen to the market so you can enjoy the freshest jars possible.
